Arjun Prasad Joshi is a central committee member of the Nepali Congress. This is the fourth time he is contesting parliamentary elections as a Nepali Congress candidate. During the last general elections held under the 1990 constitution, Joshi contested the polls from Parbat-2, a constituency he has held for three consecutive elections.

Joshi's main contender this time is UML district chief Padam Giri.
