Shekhar Koirala is the son of Nepali Congress leader Nona Koirala. He was the second vice-chancellor of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. He was considered one of the closest allies of former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and played an important role during the peace process.
